Help needed - Speed to Feed event Sun 5/26 at Loco Patron

Brothers,
We need 6 – 8 volunteers (Knights and/or Knights w/families)  from 2:00 PM until about 6:30 PM or parts therein to assist with various functions at our first ever "Speed to Feed" event to raise money for St. Mary's Food Bank.  The event is being held at Loco Patron which is located on the SE corner of Desert Foothill Parkway and Chandler Blvd (behind the Walgreens). The address is 1327 E. Chandler Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85048, phone: 480-460-8887.

This event will be held during the NASCAR race – Coca Cola 600.  The race begins at 3:00 PM.  We need help in the following ways:

3 – 4 people to handle 50/50 ticket sales – unique drawing after each 100 laps
2 – 3 to handle race winners (First 3 places) / lap winner ticket sales – drawing after each 100 laps for car/driver currently in 1st place
1 – 2 people to oversee ticket / race car bag placement/security

What this all means will be explained, and rule sheets and rules flyers will be made available.

FYI, our council is on the hook for $500 in prizes for the first 3 place winners, so we need help to ensure we at least cover our costs on this maiden charity drive voyage.  If we at least break even, we can venture into a more standardized schedule for this kind of event in the future.  However, we would like to turn a nice sized check over to St. Mary's Food Bank as a result of this effort.

If available, please come to help…BUT IF NOT AVAILABLE TO HELP, COME WITH THE FAMILY FOR FUN AND GOOD FOOD…ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO LOCO PATRON EVER, OR RECENTLY.  FYI – Loco Patron is owned by 2 Brother Knights, has very good food and a very friendly and accommodating staff.

Brothers,
I have heard from a couple of Brother Knights who have lost their jobs in the past few days.  This is a tramatic experience in the best of times, but continues to be a horrific experience in our current economic dilemma.
Please pray for Brother Scott Night and a few others who have asked to remain anonymous at this time.
St. Joseph the Worker, Pray for our Brother Knights and all affected by their current employment circumstances.  Amen

K of C Convention - Congrats to YOUR COUNCIL!!!!

Subject: [Council 10062 Email] K of C Convention - Congrats to YOUR COUNCIL!!!!

Brothers,
I wish to express my sincere congratulations and thanks to this unbelievable group of Catholic gentlemen whom I am proud to call BROTHERS.  You have made this council into one of the very best in the state and arguably the nation.
At the just completed state convention, Council 10062 was awarded the Culture of Life Community Service Award for the 2nd year in a row – thanks to a number of events such as Mother's Day Roses, Justice for All, Donations to Maggie's Place and our help with the parish Right to Life ministries.  We also were awarded the Family Service Award for our work with the Knight's Kids, Boy Scout Eagle projects, for hosting a Squires Circle and other initiatives.
The Charity Raffle – which was struggling just 2 weeks ago, finished with a huge surge.  Once again, Council 10062 was the number one council in the state.  Thanks to Theron Jackson for heading this committee and for the entire council for exceeding the council goal and more than doubling any other council in the state.
A special award – the State Deputy's Award was presented to Brother SK Richard Armanini for his incredible success, leadership, persistence and dedication to the State Raffle.  It was stated that under Richard's guiding hands, the raffle has raised more than $1.2 million in just a few years.  Very Well Done Richard.
As a special note, the 1st Prize trip to Portugal was won on a ticket sold by our Council (pulled from the barrel by Bishop Olmsted).

Subject: [Council 10062 Email] K of C Business Vote

Brothers,
We need to vote on a spending issue – and at the recent Planning Meeting it was suggested that we try doing it through e-mail since the event takes place before our next general council meeting.  The issues is as follows:  We need to approve spending no more than $500 for prizes for the upcoming "Speed to Feed" event at Loco Patron.  The planning meeting recommended approval, but protocol requires a council vote.
Please reply Yea or Nay by Tuesday 5/20th.

Brothers,
In John 21:1-19 Jesus told the disciples, "Feed my sheep".

Pope Francis has a history of supporting the poor.

This letter is intended to offer you an opportunity to participate in the Charity Raffle.

The raffle ticket has ten [10] great prizes.  The important thing is that all funds collected after expenses such as the prizes, printing costs, sales incentives, and distribution of the tickets goes to St Vincent de Paul within the Corpus Christi Parish. To support this valuable project, please deliver a check to the Council Raffle Chairman, Richard Armanini, Dennis Sullivan or drop an envelope off to the parish office asap

Enclosed is a copy of the poster describing the prizes.  The tickets are $5 each, 5 for $20, and 30 for $100.  The $100 purchase gives you an extra book of tickets.  Deadline is May 12th.

Write the check out in any $5 amount i.e. $5, $10, $15, $20 up to $100.  We will fill out the tickets and send you the ticket numbers.  Fill out the information at the top of this letter and return it with a check.  If you give us your e-mail address, we will send your ticket numbers to your e-mail address otherwise we will mail them to you.
